Matera

Matera is a contemporary furniture collection designed by Sébastien Kieffer (ex-Pool Studio), in which the structure emerges as if carved directly out of the material. Echoing the sculpted cliff faces of ancient cities like Matera or Petra, it references archaeology. Highlighting the mark of erosion and the passage of time, Matera presents itself as an original and timeless collection.

Starting from a straight structure, the shapes of the cutouts soften the overall rigidity. They carve into the volume to suggest a more complex form.

Matera plays on contrasts between rigid structures and rounded shapes on the upholstered elements.

The addition of materials—wood, marble, and alpaca wool—accentuates this contrast.

The design lends itself to a range of different typologies (armchairs, sofas, tables, lighting) with true depth across the collection.
